Texture

Recently for my negotiated module I’ve been reusing old stuff that’s been lying around, these were old bits of wood that I had used for a previous piece of work. I covered them in canvas and decided that I wanted to try and create more textural plaster paintings. The experiment was to do with the change in gesture when listening to happy music. These two pieces were created when I was listening to some of my favourite music that puts me in a good mood, Primal scream – Movin on up. I think the joy that the music brings to me translates literally into the smooth sweeping gestures that I’ve created. I’m thinking about developing this using thick impastoed paint and seeing how the material differs in finish to the plaster.
